genlytics

Connect your AI tools

Point Claude, Cursor or VS Code at your Genlytics data and ask about your AI search visibility in plain English — which engines name you, which competitors win the prompts you lose, which sources they cite. Read-only: nothing you ask can change your configuration or spend a run.

1Create a key

In Settings → API keys, create a personal access token. It is shown once, so copy it then — it is not stored and cannot be recovered. A key acts as you, on the organization that was active when you created it; if you work across organizations, create one key in each.

Available on Pro and above.

2Add the server

One endpoint, for every client:

https://www.genlytics.ai/api/mcp

Claude Code

claude mcp add genlytics --transport http https://www.genlytics.ai/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer gl_pat_YOUR_TOKEN"

Cursor

~/.cursor/mcp.json — Windsurf uses the same shape at ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

      "url": "https://www.genlytics.ai/api/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer gl_pat_YOUR_TOKEN" }
    }
  }
}

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

.vscode/mcp.json — this version prompts for the key instead of committing it to your repository.

Claude Desktop and Claude web

These cannot send a custom header to a remote MCP server yet, so they need the mcp-remote bridge. A native one-click connector is coming.

        "-y", "mcp-remote", "https://www.genlytics.ai/api/mcp",
        "--header", "Authorization:Bearer gl_pat_YOUR_TOKEN"
      ]
    }
  }
}

The missing space after Authorization: is deliberate — it is the documented workaround for how arguments are split.

3Ask something

Start with “List my Genlytics workspaces” to confirm the connection. Then try the questions the data is actually good at:

  • Which AI engines don't mention us at all, and is that invisibility or a failed measurement?
  • Show the prompts where competitors get recommended and we don't.
  • Which sources do the engines cite on our topics, and are we one of them?
  • What's our AEO score, which pillar is dragging it down, and what's the cheapest fix?
  • How has our visibility moved over the last three runs, and who gained on us?

If it doesn’t connect

Every call returns 401, but the key is new
The key belongs to a different organization. A key is tied to the one that was active when you created it and cannot be moved — create one per organization.
“Requires a Pro plan”
The organization is on Free. Existing keys stop working on a downgrade, by design.
Rate limited
300 calls a minute per key. Wait a minute rather than retrying immediately.
